Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco star in "Day Shift," a vampire hunting movie. The movie follows the story of a hard working blue collar dad who just wants to provide a good life for his quick-witted daughter, but his mundane San Fernando Valley pool cleaning job is a front for his real source of income, hunting and killing vampires as part of an international Union of vampire hunters.
The premise sounds exciting, but can J.J. Perry deliver on it?
The opening scene of the film is a wild action sequence that sees Jamie Foxx shooting a shotgun at an old lady, who turns out to have been a vampire. This leads to a hilarious fight between the two of their characters that is a total blast. This movie has a great deal of fun with rag-doll physics, which makes the action scenes pop in a way other Netflix action movies (or blockbusters) don't.
Day Shift, another lighthearted and fun film, was one that I really enjoyed. It was fun and entertaining. I enjoyed the humor and found myself laughing quite a lot. Of course, it was inspired by some fantastic vampire films such Blade and Lost Boys. Both of these films happen to be some my favorite movies. The acting was good all around, the directing was great and the cinematography was quite good too. Day Shift, a movie that is both enjoyable and not too serious, is worth a look. It's a lot of fun.
Day Shift is a mixed movie. There is some great action and fun characters (the brothers Seth and Seth), but the villain is horrible and there are many mediocre characters. Some scenes were missing. Bud's neighbor acts almost like they're close friends, even though Bud only had three minutes of screen time prior to the final scene. I guess that helps the better characters shine even more. It's a fun movie overall, but could have been more.
Snoop Dogg makes this movie well worth it. Snoop Dogg is simply a (click here) great guy. He's the embodiment of cool.
